costume fitting

The day I found costumes for my dancers (light turquoise and navy blue dress slips), my little dancers at home promptly found my bag and proceeded with their own costume fitting. They danced in them, played in them and then ate chocolate chip cookies in them!

Aunt Melodee

Photobucket

This is my mom's sister, my Aunt Melodee, who has been a big part of my life since I was born. And now that I have children, she is a loving part of their lives. Melodee has many things about her that make her a wonderful woman: she's an educated, professional woman with tons of friends and dear family in her life. She loves film, good books, great bargains and chocolate (like all Lambert Women). It is her birthday today! Happy Birthday to our Aunt Melodee! Love you!

aaron self portrait

Photobucket

I found this image saved from when we installed the Logitech quickcam. Aaron rarely stares at himself in any way shape or form... I have to persuade him to even double check the mirror before work and so I am guessing this is a self portrait of sorts. Look at those perfect lips and those deep eyes. It is Aaron's birthday today, he is 33. Happy Birthday to my husband, my one and only love.

mom dancing

Photobucket

This is my mom, and me actually, in 1976 @ BYU where Virginia Tanner set 'Woman the Pioneer' on the dance company there. Janine was barely pregnant with me when they filmed. She danced the part, Woman of Joy. I have watched many dancers throughout my life, and still, my mom is one of the best dancers I have ever seen. Happy Birthday, mom! (note to Dad- I still need a copy of this pic in it's full glory- this is a scan from a teeny tiny copied picture!)

best loved baby

Photobucket

Here in Tacoma I have had the good fortune to meet and become friends with the owners of Best Loved Baby- a natural children's boutique. Sara, Bronwyn and Ida, are actually all in our ward, and have created a lovely shop on Bronwyn's home's floor level at 1104 S. Proctor in Tacoma. My favorite item from Best loved Baby is currently the 'muffin booty' as I call them. Here is Sara's littlest modeling this naturally made item:

Here are some pics from our rehearsal. Our dancers are such beautiful girls! They are teachers at the Y and they both attend University of Puget Sound. We have found good material within some improvisations and partnering work. I am very excited to film in about one week!

tag- i'm it

Meikel and Luke bought these huge coloring books for the girls when they visited and we all had a turn coloring with Myka and Haily. Meikel named this one 'Marianne in the Morning'. How I wish I looked like a wistful anime fairy every time the sunlight awakens me...

Washington women are 'tagging' each other up here! So here's my 'I'm it' answers. (And now I tag Utah beauty Leah Wright.)

Ten years ago:
I was a newlywed in Stockton, CA working as a Customer Service Rep for The Good Guys-(it was like Circuit City)- I had a full schedule of classes at Delta College and had just received my letter of acceptance to Brigham Young University.

3 Things on my to do list today:
-clean the car out, vacuum it and wash it
-cut, burn and turn in my songs for the YMCA dance recital
-start making a shot list for an upcoming dance film shoot

If I were a billionaire:
-pump $ into a program that educates girls- gives low income or uncared for girls a chance at college and a career- we must educate girls! -it ensures the future- they bear the children who become the next population. After that, of course, I would buy a posh home in Seattle or San Francisco and a top of the line sports car for my hub.

3 secret bad habits
-I stay up way late every night hanging out with this brown haired, blue-eyed guy...
-zit picker- gross!!! but ya, i love picking zits...
-movie goer- even R movies! dun, dun, dun! i love film- i try hard to research the film first- and we did buy clear play- but i love, love, love film and hence i see some r here and there- dangit!

5 places I have lived:
-Mountain View, CA
-Provo, UT
-Tacoma, WA
-Stockton, CA
(that's it- I mean we have traveled- been to Europe but alas we didn't live there)

5 jobs I 've had
-summer camp arts/crafts director
-after school arts dance teacher
-phlebotomist @ alpha plasma
-victoria's secret beauty side associate
-folk dance & aerobics teacher @ BYU

5 things people don't know about me
-I hang out at Target
-I am a closeted JT fan
-I have written a couple of ballads on the piano & guitar
-I am writing/illustrating a book- for girls
-I daydream...a lot and I dream at night a lot too and I always remember the dream, vividly, when I wake up.

me trying photobucket

This is toddler Myka in her first bedroom ever. We had painted it 'pea pod green' before she was born, little did we know how smashing her hair would look against it!!

(Nice, with the finger in the nose...)

reading...

So glad I am finally reading this! I think I first heard about it when my Aunt Melodee and Aunt Lisa were both reading it a few years back. It is the kind of book that you read and then keep in your bookcase for later referencing and information. And I'll be keeping it for my daughters to read age-appropriate chapters when they turn 12 or so...

ms laura's dance class

Every Monday, Aaron, myself and our girls take Ms. Laura's parent/child creative movement class at the YMCA.

(how many girls can say 'my dad and I take a dance class together'- this is just proof that aaron truly loves his girls...)

haily's birthday boutique

This was Haily's first birthday where she has had an official party with friends invited and so Mom kind of went all out...I get to do that, I'm her mom!

This cute cash register from Uncle 'Rynee' (Ryan) spawned the 'boutique themed' party.

The Invitation: pink cans, pink cards and pink & white Skittles in miniature bags. Sister Myka addressed each invite herself, with...you guessed it, a pink pen.

As each little guest arrived, they were given a cute purse full of 'money' to spend as they pleased in the shoppe.

Haily's Birthday Boutique specializes in only the finest and most stylish little girl playdresses...

Boutique Features: Polish table- where each guest was treated to a rainbow coded manicure- such tiny little nails are fun to paint!

Boutique Jewelry Collection: Haily's Boutique carries a unique line of little girl necklaces and bracelets. Here is one style that was available for each girl at the party.

The Refreshments: These fun, pink sparkle drinks along with white cake, strawberry, vanilla and whipped cream trifle in pretty ice cream dishes.

The Birthday Gifts: Each girlfriend bestowed upon Haily such thoughtful and lovely presents...thank you!

The Result: A happy birthday party that big sister got to be involved with and where my Haily girl felt like a princess surrounded by her darling friends and loving family!
