haily in hot pink
myka's dance film premiere
Myka on Friday at her movie premiere @ Barefoot Studio. (Yes, it snowed!)
(Preshow performance, or others may call it just little kids restless for the show to start.)
Myka, her sister Haily and their girlfriend Aislyn all dance as fairy princesses in my latest dance film, Autumntime Fairy Dance. Myka dances the part of the Blue Fairy, Haily is the Yellow Fairy and Aislyn is Hot Pink Fairy. They did a wonderful job dancing and playing as I filmed them in a beautiful autumn forest. Now, I'm off to go get Aaron to help me post the film...
friday dance classes
Bitty Ballet, 3-4 year olds @ 4:00PM.
I have been teaching dance in a neighboring city every Friday since September and have enjoyed the experience. It was a temporary situation to help that YMCA branch until they hired a new dance director. So, Friday was my last day, and I will miss the children I was lucky to get to know! Especially the bitty ballet class with cute chubby legs in pink tights and teeny, tiny feet tip-toeing around the room in miniature ballet slippers!
Ballet I class, 6-10 year olds @ 4:45PM
(check out my 4-months-overdue-for-a-highlight hairdo and no make-up look, yes! ... bot not really)
Ballet/Tap combo class, 5 year olds @ 5:30PM
And this long leggy lady is from my home branch modern class. We took jump pics on Wednesday and her's turned out fab!

molly fairy
I am doing another dance film. This time with little girls dancing as fairies in a secret, woodland wonderland. I will be showing this film at Barefoot Studios Dance Film Night this upcoming weekend. This little blue-eyed sprite is Molly. She danced ring-around-the-rosies with Haily for me today. She was wonderful!
pnb nutcracker
Christmastime is here! Washington's premiere ballet company, Pacific Northwest Ballet is showing their spectacular version of the Nutcracker! Being connected with the YMCA affords us coveted, upclose seats at a fraction of the cost, so we took both girls this year! The experience really is one every child should have. The music, the costumes and the magical, Christmas fantasyland you get wrapped up in creates an unforgettable holiday memory.

picture pilfer
I just got off of my cousin Meikel's blog and had to post/brag about my 87-year old Grandma! Look at her! I can only hope to look so lovely, stylish and happy when I am that age! Sometime soon I shall post about Grandma Carol. She is a remarkable woman. Thanks for letting me pilfer Mrs. Reece! (The salad looks delicious too- it was connected to the Gma pic- and the pomegranates match her sweater!)

slept, played, baked & enjoyed
Happy Thanksgiving! If your day was as wonderful as mine, which I hope it was, then it must have gone something like this:
Slept in late w/ husband
Played w/ children outside in the crisp, autumn air
Baked hot buns in a retro apron while listening to Christmas music
Enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with family
...and now for a movie with Aaron, can't decide between Scrooged, Elf, and Christmas Vacation...

interesting
In my Dance Composition class at BYU, we learned that it is interesting to have the dancer not face the audience at all times. That probably seems elementary, but it was profound to me at the time. These shots were a fun surprise for me. I hadn't really planned on having Myka not face the camera, I just was following her as she walked to the corner store for some penny candy. (Pretty cool, if I don't say so myself!)

#115 Peacoats
I am sure I am behind the times in figuring out this guy's webpage. But it makes me laugh and laugh and then I laugh some more...
Thank you for the suggestion Meikel and Luke.

talent show
Myka, Haily, and a darling set of friends danced as fairies in the annual ward talent show. Here is Myka and her girlfriend, Riley, having an intense artistic discussion about their upcoming performance.
My girlfriend Sara has four cute sons who all play the piano or sing, along with being soccer allstars. This is Payson belting out his part from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
This is Aldus, Sara's oldest boy.
This is Townsend, my girlfriend Bronwyn's oldest son.
And here is Marley, Bronwyn's first child. Marley and Townsend are Aislyn's brother and sister. Aislyn is our dear, little friend who Myka and Haily love to have over to play.
Here is Bronwyn's youngest, Ephraim, who did smile for me, but I didn't click fast enough!
Haily did a solo in our fairy dance. She totally soaked up the spotlight and danced so lovely.
It was a fun evening at our chapel. The dinner was great and there were tons of people. (I even did a dance! I tried a lyrical piece set to Soul Meets Body by Death Cab- it turned out all right...)

myka says
Myka has a great grasp on the English language. She is in the top reading group at school and she uses words that surprise me, like:
'responsible'
'timid'
'correct'
'understand'
She is only five though, and so here are some funny ways she says things:
family 'hove' evening
'busghetti'
'fangs' (she means 'bangs')
