Myka and Haily danced in a little talent show with their good friend from preschool, Zoey. We used a lovely piece of music with a rolling celtic melody. The girls skipped, tip-toed and twirled all across the stage. Each girl even took a turn dancing a short solo while the other two lay asleep like Sleeping Beauty. It was so great to see them performing!

2nd grade
This is Aaron @ 7 1/2 yrs old in 1982. He was in Mrs. Brown's second grade class @ J.O. Ford elementary in Richmond, CA.
Here I am @ 7 yrs old in 1983. I was in Mr. Ota's second grade class at Davis Elementary in (Morada) Stockton, CA.
(Ohh- I really hope I can have a 'little Aaron'. But the way things are going I think we'll be having a redheaded girl- of course she'll be the best thing ever- but a little copy of Aaron would be fun!)

elder gary
Look at this teenager! Aaron is 19 in this picture! Here he is in Thomasville, Georgia, in 1995. A member of the ward did an article on missionaries for the Daily Gazzette and Aaron was interviewed and photographed. (I am still unpacking from like a year ago and I keep finding wonderful little treasures like this photo..ohhhh- so cute!)

he loves me
He loves me. He brought me roses at the airport when he knew I would be coming off the plane doped up on dramamine with our girls hanging off of my arms. He knew I had been a little down in the last week. He thought of me and stopped in somewhere in the rain to buy me a bundle of roses. And when he saw me coming down the steps at Seatac, bestraggled as I may have been- his eyes focused soley on me. His blue-green eyes under those golden brown lashes- had passionate love in them...all for me!
hailyswim
Haily is in her first little swim and dance classes at the YMCA!
For swim, she is in the Kipper parent/child class with about 15
other 2 1/2 year olds. Saturday was the first class and she was
excited and happy until Aaron took her away from the side
of the pool to join the rest of the group. Oh dear! She cried
and cried and so Aaron helped her to participate in all the
songs and activities from the edge of the pool. Maybe next
Saturday...

mlk parade 2008
I would have loved to be celebrating at this parade with all these people! There are so many reasons I am grateful for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When I was 18 and in an English class at Delta College our professor had us read MLK's 'Letter from Birmingham Jail'. It is an important piece of written material that has left a lasting impression on me. It's message rings true in my heart and it's words spur me to love others who are different than myself and to stand for equality for all human beings. And now that I have children I will be an example to them and teach them these principles.

myka k @ 9 months
When Myka was 9 months we took her to a general purpose photography studio where we had cute pictures taken. The same weekend we went up to Sundance with my aunt's higher end camera and took just as adorable shots of her. I decided then that I preferred to take my own pictures because I could keep them on disc, there's no sitting fee, and these pictures are more unique and natural.

pear & cranberry crisp
sf date
So, as usual, Aaron and I spent a day in the city during
our Christmas vacation in California. My family lives in
Stockton and so we drive into Pleasanton and take the
BART train into San Francisco- it makes for a pretty painless
trip.
Aside from the jewelry shops in Chinatown and all the holiday sparkles
of the town, a main interest of this trip was to see the Leonardo DaVinci
exhibit at the Metreon. What they have done is actually build almost
all of DaVincis ideas from his extensive drawings and schematics- cool.
There were fun shops inside the Metreon, like a posh
little bookstore and this Nintendo store...oh my husband
and his gaming addiction...
We ate in the Metreon at the Firewood Grill. Aaron ordered
penne pasta with pesto and fresh vegetables, I ordered grilled
oysters tossed in linguini with garlic sauce- very good. This was
the little call number for our meal, I thought it was cute!
In honor of my cousin, Meikel we stopped in H&M. Aaron found a sweater
he liked and I found these awesome raspberry sparkle high heels- oh gosh!
But of course they were out of size 10 and 11- dangit!
We ended the night with ice cream drinks at Borders, it stays open so late!
Aaron found books for his parents and I swear we were sitting next to
Jeremy Irons at the cafe! Aaron was not so sure...

me pouty
So I'm at home and looking through all the old photo albums
and here is a picture I found of me at 2 years old. This must
have been in 1978 when we lived in the Heritage Halls @ BYU
where my mom and dad were the dorm parents. And I don't
know why I was pouty but I am guessing it was because of the
scant amount of hair on my head...even then you can see my
mom trying to do stuff to it...clips...pigtails...it was no use!

janine @ sundance
My Mom, Janine performed up at the Sundance
Summer Theater for many summers while in BYU's
Masters in Dance program. She always tells us of
the time they were rehearsing and 'Bob' (or Robert
Redford) would watch from a tree back behind the
seating area. He would be checking to see if things
were up to par and so on and so forth.
